Sunday Night FOSC Report, August 24, 2025
With or without my trusty calculator, I can count on both hands, but it still says to me that 27 Fosc points is nothing but a right bounce or a wrong bounce. The 2025 Fosc Championship and the awarding of the 2025 Michael J. Ferris Memorial Award could be settled by one good bounce. With 8 rounds left, Larry has a 27 Fosc point lead over Bill with JerGer 185 points ahead of Paul Sanford with Fred Stoddard rounding out the top 5.
The stationary “Commish Line” with the first 43 players are commissioners in 2026. Tom Quinn is currently 43rd making him the last commish and Jim Hopkins in 44th place is the first person not to get a commissionership.
The moving “Money Line” determines who gets a money envelope and who doesn’t. Since 106 players contributed, the top 50% (53 players) get envelopes with the players near the front of the line getting fatter envelopes than the players that are near the back of the line.

Sunday Night FOSC Report, August 10, 2025
What goes around comes around ... and then goes around again. I got a call from Dusty in the Greystone pro shop alerting me to the fact that his September 2nd date at Greystone that he had moved us from us had suddenly become available again. He wanted to know if we were available to bring the TTA up to his course. By this point in the conversation, I had already counted a dozen regular TTA courses that we had to move last month to accommodate the change in his schedule. It bothered me. Changing those dates gave me a stomachache for 3 days. But then I just let it roll over me and said in my best Dan Whitney imitating Clint Eastwood voice “Sorry, we’re booked right to the end of the season.”
From the Clipboard ...Who, by the end of the season, will have the most visits to the Winners’ Circle in search of a white envelope from Jim Bay with “in the money” cash ? With still quite a few events on the schedule, Kevin McClain has seen the spotlight 11 times, With Bob Krol, Bill Doolittle, JerGer, and Luis have been there 7 times. Amazingly, we’ve had 94 players win at least 1 money envelope.
We’ve had 65 skins this season ... but by the end of the season, who will have the most. Luis currently leads the pack with 8, and just behind him at 5, we have Bill Doolittle, Buddy, Dan Whitney, Kirk Bristol, and John Schlicht.
So Far, Bill Doolittle has had 4 Closest to the pin shots. But who will be on top at the end of the season. Bill Sanford, Kurt Hartman, Larry Keough, and Tony Pro all have 2.
Next week we head west with Sunset Ridge on Tuesday and Highland on Friday.

Big Numbers: Beautiful Days.
If you’re the kinda guy who loves the beautiful vistas of Central New York, you’ve probably stopped right there on the road, pulled the car over, and reached for the camera.
Not me. I’m not interested in shooting beautiful fall colors, idyllic farmland, or spacious mountain vistas. In order to be even considered as one of my top shots, I need to see golfers strewn over the rolling hills all the way to the horizon. Keep the cows and the red maples ... I’ll take the golfers...
Records were tied this last week but not necessarily broken. Jim “Money Bags” Bay says , “We also had 81 players once before, citing the Michael E. Ferris Memorial, also at Foxfire.
Money Bags also mentioned that there was $170 in the Skin Pool this last stop at Foxfire, which is the largest that he remembers in his current tenure as chief moneychanger.
Jimmy C, the Chart King, was busy counting Fosc points all day at Foxfire, and came up with a total of 3321 for Foxfire # 2. Looking back at the season so far, Foxfire # 1 was worth 3003, Millstone was worth 2775 Fosc points, Sunset Ridge accounted for 2701 points.
We’ve still got time ...
This next week we head down to beautiful Hiawatha Landings on Tuesday and then back to Millstone on Friday.
Congratulations to Dr. Dave Seeley for mention in the Sunday Post Standard regarding his “playing his age” with us at Foxfire.

Sunday Night FOSC Report, July 20, 2025
From the Golf Course:
So here’s a new, step by step method, for playing the sometimes very difficult back 9 at Rome. Drive around for a little while searching for the 10th tee, put the tee in the ground, take a deep breath to steady the nerves and then go Birdie, Par, Birdie, Birdie, Birdie, finding the time to get 1 foot 5 inches away from a hole in one on the CTP 14th and ending up with a total back nine of 36. From here on, this will be known as the “Doctor Neal Rose Method”.
From the Big Chart:
With 18 rounds spoken for, and 18 left to go, it doesn’t take a single digit handicapper to realize that we’re halfway to the Bush Hog Open at Dutch Hollow ... and after all that time an energy put to good use, we have exactly 6 Fosc points separating first and second place. Larry Gessini and Bill Doolittle are separated by a 3-foot putt that didn’t drop.
The Commish Line stays stationary in 43rd place with Joe Ryan and Joe Homakay as our last players to win a Commissionership in 2026 and Bob DeJohn is the first player to not get a Commissionership in 2026. The Money Line has Dick Shampine and Bob DeJohn as the last 2 players to get money envelopes.
From the Schedule:
The schedule is not quite done but will be sent out soon, including a TTA first. We will play the same course (Rome) twice within 13 days. I called around looking for an opening here or an opening there, but none of our stand-buys could stand by. So, we’re back at Rome on schedule, 8/1. The empty blank spots on the schedule are caused by Pro Shops wanting to wait until the last minute to see their Tee Sheets before giving us the information we want. The best place to get the final word regarding Tee Times & Cost will always be Bruce’s team sheet.

Sunday Night FOSC Report, 7 - 13 - 2025
With Larry Gessini 17.5 FOSC points ahead of Bill Doolittle who is 16.5 FOSC points ahead of Duane Brown, and JerGer and Bob Kroll rounding out the top 5, we are in a very competitive situation.
From the Big Chart:
We have 104 players who have contributed their $20 making Dick Shampine in 52nd place the last money line envelope and Fred Mangine in 53rd place as the first player to not get a money envelope.
The Commissioner’s line stays at 43 because we need 43 commissioners in 2026, which makes George Homa our last commissioner in 2026, and Fred Mangine in 44th place as the last player to not get a commissionership.
Here’s an update on who you might want to pick for your teammate on Buddy’s Day with the numbers signifying how many times they earned money in the team match: Kevin McClain 8 times in the money, Bob Kroll 7, Bill Doolittle, 6 , Duane Brown and Luis with 5 each. Who’s the Current Skin Masters: Dan Whitney 5 skins, & Bill Doolittle, John Schlicht, Kirk Bristol, Rick Smith, and Stew Koenig all with 4. Closest to the pin so far: Bill Doolittle and Bill Sanford have 3 each.
Next week we head to Vesper Hills on Tuesday and Greystone on Friday.

Sunday Night FOSC Report: 7-5-2025
A Special Note: A tiny clerical error ricocheted through the upper portions of the small chart during the completion of the Silver Creek round. That error was ZAPPED by Jimmy “The Chart Master” Cook and is no longer considered dangerous. Both charts attached to this file are current and mistake free.
From the Big FOSC Chart:
It’s lonely at the top . . . just not as lonely as it was just a few birdies ago. Suddenly, Larry G , representing Team Gessini, tightened everything up, pulling to within 7.5 FOSC points of what used to look like a secure and relaxing place. Duane Brown, a newcomer to these heights, sits 40 points behind Larry with Jer Ger and Bob Kroll rounding out the top 5.
Since the number of $20 contributors is, at this moment, exactly 100, the movable Money Line sits right at 50 with Jim Hopkins as the last person to get an envelope at the end of the season and Bill Silkey as the first person not to get an envelope.
The Commissioners’ line, stationary at 43rd place, has Bruce Altieri as our last player to get a Commissionership and Kurt Hartman as our first player to not get a Commissionership.
From the Calendar:
For you calendar watchers, take note of this reminder that 7/25 is now Newport and 8/26 is now Barker Brook.
From the Clipboard:
Who’s standing up the most to grab an envelope from Jim Bay because of his contribution toward the team effort?
How about Bob Kroll and Kevin McClain with 7 times each “in the money” with Bill Doolittle just behind with 5.
Who’s the current “Skin Master” ? Danny Whitney has made a huge surge in the last 5 rounds winning 5 skins. Stew Koenig and Bob Kroll are close with 4.
Who can dial it in on those Par 3’s and is a natural pin finder?
Bill Sanford, Bill Doolittle, and Paul Bradbury have 2 each and 23 others have 1.
This next week we head west . . . to Milestone on Tuesday and to Blue Heron Hills on Friday.
Attached is the updated small chart with all the numbers from Silver Creek and the big chart right up to Tuesday’s round at Millstone.

June 29, 2025: Sunday Night FOSC Report – June 29
From the Calendar
With Independence Day landing right on the 4th, and Silver Creek for sale last year, we made this calendar change with Norm (Homer Graduate) very early. We will play our regular, sanctioned round on Thursday , 7/3, which gives us a quick turn-around from Tuesday’s round at Elm Tree. Then we lost Dutch, 7 Oaks, Skenandoa and Newport to bad weather, wet grounds, and a noon starting time. When Rodney could not play Canasawacta, the opportunity became ripe for an upgrade.
So here’s the changes to the schedule.
Silver Creek is now Thursday, 7/3.
Newport is now Friday, 7/25.
And Barker Brook is now Tuesday, 8/26.
This still gives us our normal 2 rounds at Vesper while Canasawacta has been dropped from the schedule. Signups for these rounds will be in the regular way.
Did anyone notice how close the team standings were at Maple Hill ? Then I’ll tell you. The team finishing 3rd and the team finishing 9th were separated by only 10 strokes. I guess we did not lose any drama when trying Bruce’s idea of trying a stroke format.
And for those of you who like closure, Skenandoa’s women’s league can have the Friday spot because we already have a Tuesday in 2026 booked. And for even more closure . . . Norm sold Silver Creek . . . to his nephew.
From Jimmy C’s Big FOSC Chart
Bill Doolittle looks to be on Cruise Control maintaining his lead over Larry Gessini by 40.5 FOS points, who has a lead of 14.5 points over Bob Krol, who has a 30.5 points lead over Duane Brown, who has a 52.5 lead over Freeman., with the top 3 now over the 500-point line. And how tough is this FOSC chart? Last year’s run-away winner (JerGer) is currently 17th this year.
The stationary Commissioner’s Line (43rd place) currently has Kurt as the last person to get a commissionership and Jim K as the first person to not get a commissionership.
The moveable Money Line has Todd Gessini getting the last money envelope and Joe Acey as the first player to not get a money envelope.
From the Clip Boards:
Bob Kroll has been “in the money” 7 times, 1 more than Kevin McClain with 6.
The battle for “Skin King” has tightened up this week with Bob Kroll, Dan Whitney, and Stew with 4 and Joe Stepien, Kenvin McClain, John Schlicht, Tony Dinicola, Tony George, and Bill Doolittle all with 3.
Only 3 players have 2 “Closest to the Pin” shots: Bill Doolittle, Bill Sanford, and Paul Bradbury.
